Here's the odd formation below Morgan's hill at Blackland/Calstone
Wellington, which formed over two nights, July 30th and 31st.

The area of Blacklands is a range of hills, which have always been a prime site for crop circles. However, we haven’t seen a crop circle in this area since 1990. Well, the year 2000 has seen a ten-year cycle, but unfortunately the design wasn’t what we expected.

Located on the left-hand side, as you drive towards Blackland, this latest design is positioned close to the roadside, on the flatter parts of the fields. But the pattern itself, was very similar in appearance to the tramlines from the roadside, as the rings and avenue are extremely narrow.

On entering the formation, we immediately noticed that the floor construction was not up to the standard that we have been experiencing in the Avebury area. Normally the floor patterns have been quite exceptional in the past four weeks, but this rather unusual design had an appearance that many people had visited already. Of course, this area is situated away from the hot spot of circle activity, so its possible formations may go unnoticed. However, with the amount of people flying at the moment, it would seem unlikely.

The design includes a pictogram with a long connecting avenue, with two wheel patterns, of slight variations. Placed centrally along the avenue, is an offset of triple rings, set within two rotated squares. But the overall formation has the wrong proportions, as there is a lack of harmony within the design. However, the location is glorious, as was the weather that day.

 The formation is a striking resemblance  to  the structure which Erich von Daniken documented in  his book: "The Arrival of the Gods - Revealing the Alien Landing Sites of Nazca"

We were returning home after an interesting break in 'Croppiland' and discovered this formation at about 10.30 am on Sunday 30th.  It was a beautiful morning and situated in a very quite, peaceful area, in green wheat.  We had always wanted to discover a formation & do the 'First Footing' but were slightly disappointed as we entered it.  Although the laid crop was still quite springy & did not appear to be down trodden (there were visitors all over it by the time we left), it looked several days old perhaps and did not have that 'Wow Factor'!  The shape was very difficult to discern, at ground level, and had a sort of pictogram look about it.  We dowsed it and found a little bit of energy where the crop changed direction.  The 'wheel' shape, at the far end of the formation appeared 'fresher' looking than the other one, but the quality of the crop was probably better there.  There were some quite nice corners where the wheat was swept up into the standing crop in fan-shapes, and multi-directional lays at some intersections.  A good view can be had from the Small Grain picnic area.
