Standing on the Avebury Stone Circle ditch, looking out towards Avebury Down, we can see the large propeller design in the distance, but this is not the only formation to appear close to the village. On the small lane leading out of Avebury, towards the large formation at Avebury Down, known as Green Street, we have a very small scroll formation, just off the lane on the left-hand side. In very ripe Barley, close to the henge itself, this small design was a welcomed relief from the larger more complex designs, not just because of its simplicity, but for its tiny proportions! It only took about half a  hour to photograph and survey, and consisted of a 23ft diameter main circle, with a small curving avenue flowing into the top smaller circle of 11ft in diameter. Both circles have an anti-clockwise rotation, and the outer edge of the main circle is offset from the tramline by 7ft 10inches. This measurement was taken from the centre of the circle towards the edge on the Green Street side. The formation was oriented on a north westerly direction.
