AMESBURY FORMATION, NR STONEHENGE FARMER PLOUGHS OUT FLOOR PATTERN! Click on thumbnail to enlarge. It saddens me to write this report on the formation overlooking Stonehenge. The Connector team arrived at the location, on a rather overcast day, hoping that the formation would still be there. Our first sighting of the pattern was driving along the main road past Stonehenge. Gaining access to the formation was not easy, we had to drive around the back (as it was on a sloping field, looking towards Stonehenge) and drive down a small track way, which led to a National Trust field, with a large Tumulus. "What was actually left of the floor pattern inside, was heaps of dirt and straw" Obviously this landowner had quite enough of visitors entering his field, so he blatantly destroyed this formation. What was actually left of the floor pattern inside, was heaps of dirt and straw, it was quite surreal to witness. From the pole shots I took from the side of the field, you can just about see the dirt mounds. We finally arrived at the spot, overlooking the monument, and could just about see the |
formation from over the
fence. "OH NO" we shouted in unison. To
our horror, the farmer had burrowed out the floor pattern within the
formation, but had left the shape within the field! This is (thank god)
a rare event in the crop circle world, we rarely see this sort of
practice taking place from Farmers.
This was a great shame, as we have witnessed a mini revival of the thought bubbles, which graced our fields in force back in 1994. The Stonehenge formation, was quite a small formation, but had many qualities I felt, from looking at the aerial shots. It was of course nothing like the grander of the 1996 Julia Set which ranks as of the most celebrated formations ever, and has once gain recently opened up further debate on its potentially daytime appearance. Click on thumbnail to enlarge. Of course our main reason for visiting Stonehenge, was to see this new formation, but as we were bitterly disappointed by the farmers action towards this work of art, we decided to follow up on this latest story regarding the 1996 Julia Set. It has recently come to light that further witnesses can substantiate the appearance of this formation in the daytime. We have three more individuals, which confirm that the formation was not there in the field, at 5.30pm, but was formed by 5.45pm. Two, are security guards, and the third is an English Heritage employee. We hope to have more on this story soon, but this could be tremendously important for the crop circle research! On the day we visited the 2000 crop circle, we could not find the people in question, but we do have other researchers on the case!
