This enormous formation appeared almost at the very top of Windmill Hill, which was once a Neolithic settlement, some five and half thousands years ago. The formation was positioned at such a height, that you could view it from West Overton Hill, which is about four miles from Windmill Hill. The site itself may have been a meeting place for many groups of people coming from a wide area, which is quite fitting, as our nineties formations also seem to display the same function.
The formation itself can also be seen from Avebury village, but the whole location had a wonderful feeling of serenity to it. Indeed, many people commented on the fact that it was like walking around the temple of some description. A friend of mine had an unusual experience within the formation, at around 11 oclock on the morning of Saturday 17th of July. He was standing at one of the points on the inner square, when he had the feeling that it was like being in a church. The smell and the atmosphere were quite uncanny, but what was just as interesting was that a service must have been taking place in Aveburys village church. When I arrived, I asked many dowsers to see if a line ran through the formation, they could not detect one, but the alignment to me is obvious, with the church in full view of Windmill Hill.
The formation consisted of well over 200 circles, with 24 circles making up each side of the inner square. All of the circles that made up the entire pattern inside the square were clockwise in rotation, but varied in size quite dramatically, from 4ft to 8ft in places. Each side of the inner square was approximately 22ft in length, which resulted in the entire diameter to be approx. 315ft in diameter.
The floor construction was equally as impressive, with an inner pathway running around the outer edge of the square in a clockwise direction, but each side of the outer circle flowed in the opposite direction, but then changed direction with almost a 90 degree angle facing either, away from the square or towards it.
From the air, the formation resembles a ground plan of some kind of sacred temple or a church, or even an ancient site. Research on this pattern is being carried out, and we will bring you an update on what this design represents in due course.
