This formation came as a big surprise as I entered the Avebury area on Saturday 24th of July. I received a phone call telling me of a formation next to Silbury Hill. "Where is it?" I said as I drove around like a headless chicken, frantically looking for it! I suddenly realised that it could not be seen from the road, as it was located directly on the top of the hill opposite to Silbury.
The heat as quite unbearable as I walked up the steep incline to the formation. Its quite a large formation some 93 meters in diameter, but the entire design is laid out in squares. Its a Koch Fractal, but instead of triangles as the base design, the formation has fours sides of squares, which appear to be three-dimensional. There are a number of circles around the perimeter which is classic to the 1997/98 designs, and would seem to be made from the same agency that created the East Field Koch in 1998. Every circle around the outside was clockwise in rotation.
The large expanse of crop in the middle of the formation had four directional flows, very similar to the East Field 1998 formation. Also, there was a very interesting feature directly at the centre, as a series of four clockwise nest centres were present placed in a square format. Overall the floor construction was not practically good, compared to what we have been used to with Devils Den and Hackpen etc. It had a mechanical feel to the flow, totally different to the previous formations.
The formation is positioned in such a way that on one side of the four sections, the sighting cuts directly through Silbury Hill, as the mound can be viewed (its upper half) from the formation. Also, the formation is on such high ground, that four different formations can be viewed from its position. The "Wings of Horus" the Waggon & Horses formation, the small dumbbell on Lurkley Hill, and off in the distance the huge formation on Windmill Hill.
A very strange event took place on the night the formation
appeared. A gentleman by the name of Mike Ray, was in the Silbury Hill Car Park (directly
opposite the field in question) when he turned round to view the field, and reported the
field was luminous. It was literally glowing, no independent lights could be seen, but the
entire field looked as though it was bathed in Ultra Violet light. More on this story will
follow soon, as I will attempt to interview the witness.
