Crop: Wheat Surveyed by: Andy Thomas Report: Directly adjacent to the A27, just east of the tunnels which bore through Southwick Hill, is a tumulus like an island in a crop field. Children from the nearby estate regularly play there. Just below this, visible from the eastbound carriageway of the A27, three sets of what are almost certainly man-made initials were spotted by Andy Thomas on August 3rd. The three largest letters are fairly well executed and read 'S V T' in 56' high script. Each letter lies between its own set of tractor lines. Below these, the same letters appear again, but much smaller at 15' high, contained within one set of tractor lines. To the right of these, the much cruder initials 'N E R' lie, 20' high. Unless the circle-making forces have decided to resort to graffiti or we're missing the point here, one has to assume these markings are of little consequence.
