A new formation has appeared below Silbury Hill in Wheat. The formation is around 400 feet long, one tramline wide and resembles the "Wings of Horus". The centre of the wings has a circle with a small standing centre with the crop swirling around it. The circle is laid out in four quarters with a outside band flowing clockwise. More information will follow later on. |
FIELD REPORT

Didnt sound anything special when I spoke to Mark on the phone, as he stood on the top of Silbury Hill, looking out towards the design. However, my expectations were heightened when I finally arrived at the location. Situated on the western side of Silbury Hill, looking towards Avebury Stone Circle, an enormous formation appeared, directly at the top of the field sloping towards the A4. Its appearance from Silbury Hill was some what oblique, but the shape finally became clear once we entered the field. The shape itself has been one of debate since its appearance. Some people say that it represents a symbol well known to Star Trek fans, and indeed I can understand what they are saying. However, I believe this shape has a deeper representation, which again has connections with Ancient Egyptian religion. The extremely large central circle, is in doubt in my mind a depiction of the Sun Disk, with the four sections placed either side of the circle representing the wings of the Sun Disk. Take a look at the image above this report, and the aerial image of the formation, and Im sure you will agree it has uncanny similarities. The Sun Disk in Egyptian religion had a number of depictions. It was also used in Egyptian State, and was frequently incorporated into architecture at that time, on temples and tombs. The disk itself included the Falcon wings, which is what we see in the field around Silbury Hill. The "Winged Disk" as its most commonly known was mainly depicted floating over the King, symbolising his domination over the two lands, and his divine leadership. But on a deeper connection, it represented the earthly and godly realms; and combined them as one. Could this latest design be a sign of two worlds possibly meeting as we approach a new era? Its an interesting concept, and one that we must look at closely. Its not the first Egyptian design to appear this year, the Barbury Castle formation also had connections with Egypt. Returning to the central circle, its floor pattern was split into four different directions, which was also copied for the Falcon Wings, which had a two directional flow to them. Hardly any breakage on the plants themselves, or evidence of mud. The crop recovered extremely quickly the next day, indicating how unaffected the plants were to the circle making force. Its overall length was over 400ft, making this formation the largest to appear close to the ancient mound. Report by Stuart Dike |
