The fields that cover the area on the top of Lurkley Hill have seen a number of different types of formations since the days of 1991. This latest shape, may just well be a culmination of a sequence of three formations that have been forming since Allington Down, on The 26th of June. Rockley was the second sequence, which appeared on the 10th of July, and now we have the third and possibly final design at West Overton. The design itself appears to be a DNA strand, incorporating three arms, but this latest shape includes and extra set of two arms on each of the main arms coming off the central point. This is certainly the most elaborate, and largest of the three, and could be hinting at the lost section of a DNA which maybe finally returning to our system? A combination of different sizes of circles were found in this latest pattern, which was more of less the same for the previous two, that appeared earlier in the season. The largest circle was of course the central circle, which had a diameter of 32ft. The crop was flowing in an anti-clockwise rotation. The three arms branching off, from the central circle had variable sizes of circles. If we concentrate on two of the arms, starting with the eastern arm first. The first circle had a starburst centre, with a clockwise rotation. Second circle had a clockwise rotation, third circle was anti-clockwise, and the forth circle clockwise. The fifth circle had an anti-clockwise rotation, with again a starburst centre. Each of the smaller arms branching off, had similar sizes of circles, but the second circle on each of the smaller branch arms was the only one to have an anti-clockwise rotation. The rest of the circles included clockwise lays. The first circle off each of the three arms was approximately 20ft in diameter, the second circle coming down to 10ft. The third circle was around 9-10ft also, and the fifth circle off, was again similar in size to the first at 20ft in diameter. There were 40 circles in total, 13 on each arm; (this figure includes the smaller branch arms). Reported By Stuart Dike. |
