This particular evening, was one that the Crop Circle Connector had work with some speed, because we had to visit the formation in the evening, due to work commitments. On arriving at Beckhampton, we were met with some surprise as to its positioning within the field. It was located on the far side of the Beckhampton field, the very field that the Sting Ray was discovered in 1998, and was almost in the exact spot the second formation was discovered last year.

As we entered the formation, we noticed that the floor construction was extremely neat, with the classic quarter sectioning of crop inside each of the triangular inserts, on the outer edge of the inner design. It took us a while to work out the exact shape of the design, and with the drawing skills of A.J Samuel’s (alas Wiltshire Weirdness site) we discovered that it was a classic Celtic Knot, a recognized symbol in Celtic traditions.

The execution and accuracy of the formation as quite breathtaking, the outer ring surrounding the Knot, has a width of around 19.8 feet, it was approximately 240-250 feet in diameter, with the central section of crop displaying an anti-clockwise in rotation. The outer perimeter ring has a clockwise rotation.

As we were walking around the formation, we noticed that the sun was displaying a multi coloured halo around the entire sky, that was extremely beautiful, but what was to follow wax simply breathtaking. As the sun started to set, the cloud formations started to create some dramatic shapes, with gorgeous red colours reflecting off the Sun. But its wasn’t until we arrived home, that we learned that the evening of July 28^th was part of a lunar Eclipse, and that this marvellous display was reported right across the country.

A wonderful capping to a successful evening, and what a marvellous formation this was. Located on the flat field, between Silbury Hill, and Knoll Down.
