Found Saturday 17/7 by Peter Ainsworth and Darren Francis, this odd set of circles sits to the right of the Wagon and Horses pub in Beckhampton.

Very new, very crisp in execution, it exhibits a nice lay with the occasional set of standing stems. All 3 small, lone circles had no paths leading to them and the set overall looked generally unvisited.

Just behind the 16th Century pub, The Wagon & Horses, famous for its mention in Charles Dickens "Pickwick Papers" a grouping of circles appeared, just before the Celebration Weekend in Alton Barnes.

These circles were positioned on the brow of the hill, and in the same field as the "Wings of Horus" formation earlier in the season. Indeed, this is not the first time a formation has appeared in this location as we have had a number over the years, including one in 1998, almost in the exact spot.

The circles varied in size, and were positioned directly next to each other, as couple of circles retained a small curtain of crop separating them. There were five in a direct line, almost clipping the edge of Silbury Hill, as the mound makes a dramatic backdrop for these circles. Four out of the five circles has a clockwise rotation, but the middle circle displayed a four-direction swirl, not the classic spiral found on the rest of them. The last circle on the end displayed an anticlockwise rotation.

The two end circles were joined by a small arching pathway, creating a small scroll design, or as someone amusingly commented "headphones". Their diameter ranged from 16ft to 21ft. Located just above the scroll, was a ringed circle, with two pathways running into the central circle. The circle itself was 18ft in diameter with a clockwise rotation. The outer ring is 8ft in width.

Positioned just up from the set of five circles, were two grapeshot’s, one of them was placed between the tramlines and was 4.5ft in diameter, with the other positioned next door at around 4ft in diameter. Both had an anticlockwise rotation.

The entire set of circles including the ringed circle spanned across tow sets of tramlines. These circles were well received with the crop circle community, and indeed I thought they were nice to see, as many of the events this year have been on a huge scale. Its back to basics at the Wagon & Horses.
