Axminister, nr Kilmington, Devon. Reported 17th July.

![]() A relative in the area knowing my interest in crop circles, telephoned me, to tell me that there had been a formation at Axmouth that weekend. As I had a couple of hours on my hands I headed down to see it. After some time I found the circle in a large wheat field. It was clearly visible from the narrow lane east of Axmouth.
I pulled over and drew a sketch from a distance, the sketch is nether accurate, or to scale, but gives a rough idea. I then decided to go and look closer at the formation, and take a few pictures. This involved a long walk through the field, particularly as the tramlines ran parallel with the lane. On entering the formation I noted the outer circle and the inner circle lay was anticlockwise, the middle clockwise. The three prongs radiated outwards from the centre. The wheat had a mixture of bent and broken stems. I did notice some distortion of the circles when tram lines intercepted them.
On returning to my car I met the owner of the field, who's permission I should have really sought before I trespassed on his property. Fortunately, he didn't seem angry at me, more bemused. "It might look pretty" he complained, "but that's cost me about £300 in lost crop". Spare a thought for the farmers......
