Lockeridge Dragon

This nearly 200ft. long formation at Lockeridge, appeared in Barley, May 25th. The lay of the crop is splendid, and unusual.  A very wide "construction line" runs the full length of the beast.

No magically bent stalks, but there were many magically standing ones.

Field Report

Located at the junction towards Alton Barnes, and the village of Lockeridge, is another formation, placed only a few hundred yards from the East Kennett design on the other side of the hill. Its design resembles a Caterpillar, or possibly the return of the Scorpions?. There are six circles in total making the entire body, with a large crescent design placed at the very top. This feature is handed on its tail at the other end. Placed within the middle, are four standing tufts of crop, two in each of the central circles. Connecting the two central circles are two handles placed either side.

The floor construction was very impressive, unfortunately entry was forbidden, so I can only comment from video footage of the floor. But the film showed what resembles a central partition leading all the way up the formation. The crop was flattened extremely neatly around the tufts themselves. There also seemed to be a two directional flow in the top crescent, but this needs to be confirmed.

Many of the circles were flowing in an anticlockwise rotation, I can't comment for the very top circles. Is this design the start of the return of the insects shapes seen in the early nineties. Its has similar  overtones to the 1994 formations. That can also be said for the Newton St. Loe 2nd event, of this year. An intriguing start to 1998, with some interesting connections to the formations we have seen so far.
