Chaos breaks loose in Staffordshire. This morning a crop circle was discovered near Hammerwich, close to the A5. It is a crescent with 4 circles off it. Very nicely laid (barley). A gentlemen claims it wasn't there at 2.00 am, but he saw a yellowish light in the sky for a second. More information and pictures to follow.

Field Report
The Hammerwich Scorpion
This formation was discovered on 31st May 1998. Visiting the site a number of people were already there. It was easily seen from the Hammerwich road and many people stopped and looked when they saw us photographing the field. The field slopes downwards towards the road and the formation straddles the tramlines in an east to west direction, with the crescent part of the design most easterly. A number of the public who we spoke to know the formation was not there the night before. It is by a junction known as the triangle and it would have been fairly easy to spot any unusual activity. I spoke to a man who lived across the road from the field who saw nothing during the night.
Across the top of the hill a public footpath
goes across the field so it is easily accessible. Upon entering the formation a number
of distinct features were visible. The large crescent shape was nicely laid in general but
near the top of the crescent many of the stems were not pushed flat but at an angle of 45
degrees. However near the bottom, they were flat to the ground. The top of the crescent
would have been were most activity could have been seen from the road. All the circles
were spiralled anti-clockwise, this was very difficult to make out and it seemed like it
was alternating directions until you lifted the barley stems up.
Many of the stems appeared broken, but near the bottom circle some were found which had magically bent stalks.
It has recently come to our attention that circles have appeared in previous years just a few fields away. Hopefully we shall have more information on them soon.
