A field Report by Stuart Dike
Just outside of the small village of East Kennett is an
area which has seen a number of formations throughout the nineties. The 1998 season is of
no exception, as a new formation appeared in the field, looking towards the the village's
Longbarrow. It was situated on the side of the hill, in Oil Seed Rape, which was losing
its flower, at the time of this report. Well hidden from the road, because of the height
of the crop, this design incorporated a number of of amorphous features. Very similar
again to the Celtic Barmaid in 1994, this shape included a Trident design, with a circle
inside of the fork. A scroll was created on the
other side of the formation, with a single circle connected by a snaking pathway. The
overall design isn't particularly impressive, but without a ground report, I cannot
comment on it any further.
