Located between the towns of Newbury and Marlborough, is Hungerford, once thrown into the world spotlight back in 1987 with the terrible shooting incident. Thankfully Hungerford now has a more spiritual and mystical nature of the Crop Circles to grace its surrounding fields. This particular formation formed in the middle of the week, in a field which apparently according to the locals has seen many formations since the early nineties. This news came as a surprise, as normally the phenomenon doesn't come quite as close as this latest event. The field is situated on the outskirts of the town as you drive into Berkshire from Froxfield, positioned on an incline, the design contained 7 circles in total.

The central circle was quite large, about 70-80ft in diameter, with four arms, (our avenues) coming out at North, South, East, West, creating a cross design. Small circles were attached to each arm, on the eastern circle, two additional circles were attached, resembling antennae's of an insect. The floor construction was fascinating, because each of the arms which flowed into the circles were almost identical to each other. The crop itself flowed into the centre of the circle, then changed direction in an clockwise rotation, turning back onto itself, while forking into the standing walls. The two additional circles on the end of the western avenue, apparently formed a day after the original formation. They didn't seem to be the work of people having a laugh, they appeared to be intentionally part of the original design. A classic case of additions, appearing after the event.

The overall construction of the floor pattern was impressive, there was also four boxes in a line, just below the formation, and resembled the boxes seen in 1990-91. Only about 6-7ft in length, and placed just in from the tramlines. An unusual feature which hasn't been seen for many years, it will be interesting if they appear again?
