Description. Access was gained from a gate entrance to the field about 200 yards down the A35 from the formation. It took approximately 10 minutes to walk up the steep side of the hill through the field of barley to find the formation. The circle measured approximately 17.4M in diameter with a 450mm wide band of crop, flattened in a clockwise direction, just inside it’s circumference. Areas of crop within the formation had been flattened leaving 6 uneven petal shapes formed from standing crop surrounding an indeterminate, roughly circular, flattened center. The petals were irregularly formed within the formation and 450mm wide bands of flattened crop could be seen around each one. The areas of crop between the petals had been flattened in all manner of directions and there was very little order to the floor lays. A piece of wood was found close by in a tramline, 450mm wide x 100mm x 25mm thick, with two nails sticking out of the center. It was obvious that this had once been attached to another piece of timber and had been at least one of the tools used to create the formation. It can be concluded that this was a poor attempt to create a crop circle design by human beings. Better luck next time. Field Report by David Tarr Copyright 2000 |

This flower petal design was positioned on a low hill side very close to the village of Bockhampton, on the north east side of Dorchester. As you can see from the images, its located in one of the most picturesque countryside of the English landscape, steeped in history. The formation is not the best we have seen in this part of the country, but was a welcome sight, as Dorchester has very few from 1998.
