UPDATE A few additional comments on the three circles at Sevington, Nr. Ashford, Kent: This formation was discovered on 10th August by Tom Baker who reports that the circle centres were laid in three blocks swirled out clockwise with some evidence of gap seeking into the tramlines. There were no obvious signs of previous entry and the tramlines were very overgrown with many cobwebs. There were swollen nodes and blown, blackened nodes. There were also some double node bends especially noticeable on the gap seeking stems. The corn was very tightly laid in blocks, very springy underfoot, and there were no pole marks. There were also some standing stems of wheat and grass in the formations. No magnetic deviations apparent. Nearby stands an ancient church on an even more ancient mound and there is also a stream nearby. The formation stands on a slight ridge in the field. Reported by Joyce Galley. |
UPDATE Herewith an update of the Sevington, Nr Ashford Kent formation, visited by Joyce Galley and myself on 1 September, after the field had been harvested. Mr Tom Baker had previously visited the formation and made several observations which were recorded by Joyce - which she will append to this report at a later date. The formation consists of 3 circles in wheat, in almost exactly the same spot as last years' formation of a single circle, just to the SE of junction 10 on the M20. All three circles are laid clockwise and have a diameter of about 22.5 -23.0 ft, spaced 37.5, 36.7 & 35.2 feet apart, edge to edge. The most southerly circle had 16 processes, some 9" wide and of different lengths (3-12 ft) laid from its circumference; these may have been later additions as they were not noted by Mr Baker. I will be sending a pole shot photograph of the formation taken after harvest. Reported by Dr Andrew King. |
There was three small 10ft circles reported in Kent all swirled clockwise and set in a triangle not far from a public footpath at Sevington, which is just south of Ashford. We had a 50ft circle there last year. It may not be possible to get into the field as the combines are starting to harvest the wheat crop but if there is anything further to report will do so. Reported by Joyce Galley (kent CCCS convenor.) It was south of Junction 10 on the M20: three circles (23' diameter) arranged in a triangular formation, 55' - 60' apart. Reported by Steve Croxford. |
