Lopsided Formation

On the Marlborough Downs this formation is under 100 feet and is in barley. It probably dates to the first week in June, but not known until 14th. The Crop has stomping board marks, no magic stalks. Again!

Rockley Down, Nr Rockley, on the Marlborough Downs, Wiltshire.

Crop: Young Barley.
Reported 14th June, Formed Approx., 11th June.

The Marlborough Downs covers a large area between Swindon and the town of Marlborough. Situated on the top of the down lies a small hamlet of Rockley, , which is shielded by the woodland surrounding it. Rockley Down is located just passed the woodland, and is rich in Barley and Wheat Crop. Approximately on the 10-11th of June, Rockley played host to a very neat and much liked formation.

The formation a triangular segment, comprising on a central circle, with three pods on each apex of the triangular portion of flattened crop. The entire formation is some 150ft in length. Each circle is spiralled Clockwise, with a counter clockwise rotation surrounding the triangular portion of flattened crop. This surrounds the central section with the large inner circle about 52ft in diameter.

The formation is close the main road from Rockley to Broad Hinton, and is pointing 60 degrees North East. The positioning seems quite intentional, maybe directing us to the next location. This of course is speculation, but maybe the formation is directing us to a significant point. We shall have to investigate this further.

The floor construction was hard to see, as the crop was about 3-4 days old when I arrived. From what I could establish, the stems themselves were bent about an inch up from the ground, but this wasn't apparent throughout the whole formation. Some stems were bent right at the base, and there was very little evidence of mud. (Mud is present on the stems, but this is due to the amount of visitors).

A counter rotational lay outlined the triangular section of flattened crop, which holds the inner segment with the central circle. This was about 2ft wide, and transformed into a pathway, joining the two halves. Each satellite circle on the end of each apex, was around 40-42ft in diameter. The central circle was 53ft in diameter (Estimated).

Just across the tree boundary is an Oil Seed Rape field, very late in flower. There are a number of Grapeshot circles within this field, which need to be researched also. More details will hopefully follow .
