ANNOUNCEMENT OF OUTGOING MESSAGE/FORMATION

On Friday, Aug, 1, 1997, the UFO, Bigfoot and Crop Circles Museum team of Erik Beckjord and Dan Darby arranged, then pressed down an English-language message in the Milk Hill basin with the farmer's blessing.

The process took two hours, and was laid down this time, not cut.

The message was :

WHERE DO YOU LIVE ?

Size - about a soccer field long.

Location- Milk Hill basin, Wilts, on same site as 1991 Milk Hill Symbols.

Reason: English was used since it uses "Euro-Letters" (Roman) and the 1991 message out gathered back a reply (Milk Hill Symbols) that were letters I,U,J,L,C, in various positions, even reversed, as a CHILD MIGHT DO. THESE WERE THEN THE FIRST LINEAR, LETTER-MESSAGE EVER. Even if garbled. We do not accept the Hawkins/Michell version of Latin. (Cerealogist, 1993).

If the circlemakers are starting to use letters in any form, we wish to encourage them to continue, and in time, they may (by watching our TV transmissions....) pick up a Euro-language. We do not care which one. Then they may start to "speak to us".

We did not use symbols this time, since all possible replies in symbols, even to Koch/Kyborg, (Germans), could be interpreted any of hundreds of ways and cannot be easily matched to the message outgoing. (We respect the German efforts, but do not agree with them.)

If other researchers now commence to hire fields and make messages, one of our goals will have been met. We do not want to be the only ones.

Rain commenced after the setting of this formation, and to our knowledge, circles have stopped (unless we hear otherwise...) forming. This could be a response in and of itself!!

Croppies are encouraged to watch for any formations that have letters of any kind in them. In 1994, one happened at Lockeridge that had 6's and b's in it. Others may come to mind.

Theory:

When I make a formation, (with farmer OK), it is a message.

In l994, no further circles came out in UK thereafter. Have to check on l993.

Maybe the circlemakers are waiting for a message, and when they get one, they say, "OK, enough".

Assisting on the project was June Potts, (Barge), who lent a board, Lee Winterson, whose rope we used. Praise also due Steve Alexander for photographing it from the air, Peter Sorensen, for videotaping it from the air (we assume) and Mark and Stu for mounting the info on this site. If this effort gets others to do more, then it is a success.

It is the view of Erik Beckjord that the 8/8 formation found not far from this outgoing message formation is a reply to that outgoing message. Insofar as it is a star within a star, and an elaboration of an already existing star (Silbury Star) that he spent several hours in one night with Lee Winterson and co, it would seem to Erik that the reply is that the aliens or circlemakers, 'Come from the Stars'. A second possibility is that the reply is 'We come from inner space'. This view is not necessarily endorsed by the Crop Circle Connector.
