Non-geometric areas of flattened crop, doesn't look like lodging. Possibly bird damage, possibly not.
The Sussex team have incorporated these random patterns as they might be connected to the phenomenon, we have to keep an open mind.
Wasn't visited on the ground, so floor details will not be forthcoming.
