Earlswood, Nr Solihull, Warwickshire. Reported 6th August.

Updated Monday 25th August 1997

There are currently crop circles in a field near Earlswood (I'm not sure if it is exactly in Hereford and Worcester, or Solihull district), but they can be clearly seen from the train between Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon, between Earlswood and Wythall Stations. To get there by foot, go to Tanners Green, and down the track to the left of the golf club. Go straight across the golf course (it is a public path), and when you meet a track at right-angles, go right. The crop circles are in the field on the left.

There are one large and two small circles, and one large oval. The corn is flattened anticlockwise in all of them. They are linked by tracks leading from the largest, I think. I couldn't see any pattern in them, but they are best seen from the train, as it goes by (albeit too fast!).

Have just visited the circle at Wythall which is on the boundary of Solihull. Here is an update there are more, photos to follow. OS SP092751

The formation at Wythall (which has formed right on the boundary of Solihull) is the 4th formation (that have been discovered) to appear in the vicinity since 1991. As reported, the formations lie adjacent the railway line and are typical `Wythall formations`, oval in character with a distinct lay similar to the 1994 and 1996 formations. The circlemakers have this year moved closer to the Solihull side of the fields. The formation consists of a 20-25m circle (close to a large Oak tree) with a thin ring around the edge (which in itself takes in a reflective traffic beacon the farmer uses to avoid a large stone) a further three small circles 30m to the north of the main circle. To the east an oval with two further circles can be found connected with thin pathways.
