Bratton, Nr Westbury, Wiltshire. Reported early August.

Updated Monday 25th August 1997

While on holiday in the UK, I found several circles on the back side of the Westbury white horse, off the B3098 between Westbury and Bratton, 1.1 miles. east of the Westbury horse car-park, and on the right. What a treat this was, as the reason for coming over from the States was to visit the circles, so actually finding a virgin one was way above my expectations.

Sorry for the delay in reporting these as they were found on July 25th, '97. I did document everything with film, however. I also understand that there is a general lack of interest in these small circles, due to the sheer magnitude of the fractals, which I think are very significant, by the way.

Anyway, the specifics: The farmer is Pete Gale, the farm is the Fitzroy farm. I found the farmer's wife, (who was very nice) and asked permission to enter, using the tram lines. Upon telling her they had circles, she responded, "I didn't know there were ley lines through that field," but she should have, more in a minute. She said they usually didn't allow entry, but I guess my promise to be quick and use the tram lines allowed my access.

There were 3 circles, one main one at ~25 ft, and two satellites, approx. 4 and 6 ft. The small satellite had about a dozen stalks standing at the center. The tram lines into the circles were muddy as hell, and I came out of the field with my shoes caked with mud. (I made a wreck of the rental car.) I saw *no* signs that anyone had been there, and unless the circle had been made days before, (and not gone into since,) would the ground have been hard enough to not leave tracks, due to rain on the 24th and 25th.

I have discovered an item of interest in regard to these particular circles. I feel these small circles may be an advertisement to "watch this spot." I have read this elsewhere, most probably somewhere in your fine web sight, but the feeling I got while in this sight was a tremendous sense of anticipation of things to come. There is no doubt the Circle Makers are unfolding an agenda of "creating an awakening."

I suppose the emotions felt upon entering a non-hoaxed virgin circle, even a small one, are only understandable to those that have experienced it. My questions quickly escalated into a child-like giddiness: What could have caused it? How did *they* do it? I must confess that I was more overwhelmed sitting in what I knew to be a virgin circle (yet small) than I was in the Torus outside Alton Barnes, the day before. (Yet the Torus was a magnificent formation.)

I didn't realise until my return to the States, that the *very spot* that my circle had formed (I don't mean I own the circle, they are for humanity; just that I will always associate this particular one with a special significance) that the book "Circular Evidence" reported numerous circles at Westbury and Bratton, and low and behold, almost ten years to the date, two circles *at the same spot* as the ones I found. Plate 38 shows an Army helicopter hovering above them, in 1987. (p.73)

I reported these circles to Ilyes, at the Barge on the 25th July. I understand she inspected them, and they are genuine. I understand you guys are very busy right now, and I expect no reply, but if I can be of any further help, please don't hesitate to contact me. I look forward to my next trip to your beautiful country, but it will be less holiday and more circle investigation. I'm hooked.
