Central circle with 12 large interlocking rings around it similar to a 'spirograph' pattern. Approx 300' in diameter.
THE TORUS The formation is near to Woodborough Hill opposite the East field. The Formation can be seen from Knapp Hill. It is 300 feet in diameter with a large central circle with a series of (7) arcs going around it with two further layers of arcs forming a kind of Rose pattern. The Crop flows like water and Peter Sorensen says "It's gorgeous". The Crop Circle Connector would like to Thank Tim & Polly Carson for allowing access to this formation to the public. The Entry fee is only £1 or £1.50 per person and a car park is available in the next field along from the formation. To reach the formation please follow the 12th tramline in the field..
Discovered July 11th by farmer Tim Carson at Alton Barnes, Wilts., in wheat, across the road from the East Field . It is 300 feet in diameter. The lay of the crop looks like it was smoothed down by flowing water - BEAUTIFUL! The placement of the rings of the rings is slightly irregular - approximately as shown. Diagram & report by Peter R. Sorensen Copyright 1997. A Field Report by the Crop Circle Connector. This is the formation everyone was waiting for, and what a breathtaking formation it is! The shear complexity of design is quite remarkable, and is positioned high on the hill overlooking East Field, towards Adams Grave. I have stated in the passed, about how the location and positioning of the formation's, is part of the phenomenon. Well this was no exception, the deliberate position of this formation on the brow of the hill, produces a 3D effect from the air, and is spectacular in its execution. There is no doubt that the CircleMakers wanted this effect from the location, producing a powerful image, and is already having a wonderful response from the people visiting it. There are a number of interpretations associated with this formation, and will always be seen in a different way with many people. It does resemble a Spiral Graph, or the orbit of the Earth circulating the Sun, or perhaps a more deeper significance The Tube Torus. This is a Sacred Symbol, in connection with the Kabballa representing our KA, or Life Force Energy. It also has associations with Kundalini, another spiritual energy within the body. The floor construction was extremely interesting, many details must be mentioned, as it could signify the probability of its source of creation. The Central circle itself, wasn't a classic spiral pattern, seen in many formations, it comprised of two centres, a main centre slightly offset to one side, and a small eddy, situated a number of feet away. The outer perimeter of the circle, included the floor pattern running into each pathway, responsible for the rings. The floor pattern also faced inwards towards the main flow of the circle, and at certain points there was multi-layering, almost fluid like in its construction. Must be stated that no outer pathway was found. A number of standing stems were also present, some bunches of stems were still standing, with the flattened effected crop flowing deliberately around them. Also the pathways making the intersecting rings had a floor construction that was not parallel to the standing walls. The crop in many of them, was directed to one side, this was not due the maturity of the crop I felt, but was part of the design for the floor pattern. No presence of mud was found within the main circle, but at certain points in the rings mud was found. This might have been due the amount of people that had already been in, but nevertheless, must be stated for the record. Overall the design was magnificent, and was a great achievement by the CircleMakers, set within The Sanctuary (as I like to call it) for the Crop Circles. I recommend, that if you live within one to two hours drive of this area, to come down and see it, it's a marvellous site, in a beautiful location. Click on Image to discover more about the Torus.
