Journey to the centre of the Julia Set!

Just a brief progress report: Stonehenge 1996 seems not to be a "Julia set" after all. Rather, it shows monthly phases and sky locations of the Moon, as an observer standing near the altar stone at Stonehenge would see it at sunset every night.

A new moon (tiny ball) starts on day 1 near the end of that "long tail" in the west, then increases in size every night as it moves toward the south, finally reaching a full moon around day 15 in the southeast (see the largest ball with an anomalous "straight tail" emerging on the outside, meant to represent Earth's horizon).

Then it "goes under the horizon" and becomes invisible for 14 days (the other small spiral going into the centre), finally re-emerging way out on the long tail again on day 29 in the west. The original field orientation of that 1996 crop picture agrees with this interpretation precisely.

Once I calculate lunar sky angles for all times of the year (so far I only did June 21), then we should be able to understand how Stonehenge once worked. It is a bit complicated and will take some time.

The significance of this new astronomical interpretation is that the crop picture could not possibly have been faked, versus say a modern "Julia set". They were simply teaching us more megalithic astronomy, which no one today has ever learned.

Two other "fractals" at Windmill Hill 1996 and Milk Hill 2001 show similar astronomical features, but each will have to be studied carefully to be certain of what they are trying to say.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FARMER IS CHARGING FOR ENTRY INTO THIS FORMATION. IT IS SUGGESTED THAT YOU PARK YOUR CAR OFF THE A303 AS PER REQUESTED BY THE POLICE STATION IN AMESBURY. WE THINK THE FEE IS 3 pounds PER PERSON. WELL WORTH IT!!! (This information and request is from Amesbury police.)

The Crop Circle Connector wishes to Thank Mr. & Mrs. Sandell and Phillip Sandell for allowing entrance to the formation on their land .

This is without doubt a Julia set. We hope to have an original on the web soon so you can compare. This has to be calculated so please be patient! Precise to a point as there are a couple of discrepancies. This design has 151 circles forming it and has a height length of 385ft at a north/south run.

Crop is wheat and the rotations are all clockwise. It also has a similar design footprint as the Alton Barnes design.

Anyway as many people know the Julia set is connected to the Mandelbrot. There are many types of Julia sets and the difficulty is identifying the mathematical equation for this particular design and its directive meaning. There are displacements at the form end (Large inner circle at start) This will no doubt upon analysis have a bearing on the remainder of the design. In many cases the Julia sets are representative of the balance between order and chaos after the Mandelbrot has broken down. However the condition when interpreted indicates the degree of breakdown as far as the Julia set is concerned. In mathematics as an example an equation holds firm as long as the sequence remains constant. With fractal geometry the breakdown when it occurs becomes a cascade.

The cascade is the uncontrolled repetitious events that occur when momentum becomes self reliant and constant within itself.

I have thought long and hard as regards this wonderful formation, and have been inspired to see that this shape although initially seems to be a representation of the Julia set, is in fact a musical annotation of the Base Clef. I have consulted several musicians on this idea and they all to a man agree with me that this is indeed what it is. I asked each of them in turn as to which note this base clef refers to, and had the reply "F" from them all. This is of course very intriguing as the other mathematical and indeed musical/harmonic sequence that is built in to both the Stonehenge and the Windmill Hill formations is the Fibanacci sequence.

There is more, but I will let you have that when I have it properly formulated.
