UPDATE

This is a additional statement by the editor of the page, to update the previous report from the small formation opposite Silbury Hill. It formed on the 1st of June, and was the first Crop Circle Formation to appear in the Avebury area.

I was very fortunate to be one of the first people to see the formation on Saturday the 1st of June. I arrived at Silbury Hill at around 1.30pm, were a number of people had already been into the formation.

When I first walk into a Circle, I always take a close look at the centre first, not just for a sign of a hole, but to see how well the centre has been constructed. A number of people involved in the Circles have expressed their concerns quite rightly on certain statements about the Silbury formation being man-made. This was based on the fact that a number of holes were found in the middle of this particular design, which resulted in opinions being expressed, which may have been to presumptuous at that time.

I would like to state that no hole was present in the middle of the Silbury Hill design on that Saturday afternoon on the 1st of June. The hole was most definitely added later by persons unknown to myself, and my joint editor. In fact nobody seems to know who put the hole in the centre circle. It may have been perfectly innocent, due to surveying purposes or a devious ploy to make the formation look man-made.

Indeed the formation may turn out to be man-made, only time will tell, but on behalf of the connector I would like to apologise if the first report was to one sided as an opinion on the origin of this formation.

I hope this will be the end of the matter, as I'm sure you will agree it would distract from the enjoyment people are already having this season.

Sincerely

Stuart Dike
Editor.

The formation is in Barley and is located in the field opposite Silbury Hill on the A4. It is in a central position in the field. It is a flower shape with six petals with a central inner circle with a further six more petals.

The formation is surrounded by a outer ring with an overall diameter of approx. 82 feet. The inner circle is 17 feet diameter. The formation is laid in a clockwise crop rotation.

The floor lay is quite rough in appearance and some underlying mud on the stems is visible. The internal petals have an alarming amount of mud on the stems. The overall construction is very rushed in appearance. But from the air we would suggest it has a good geometric appearance.
