This Formation is located at ??Murcar?? (We need to confirm this), Nr Aberdeen. It is half a mile north of The Aberdeen Exhibition Center. It is one week old? It is a dumbbell shape, the first circle is 30 metres dia, the 2nd circle is 10 metres dia and the pathway between is 2 feet wide. A T-bar strip misses the small circle and ends in a T. The formation is in barley.

I saw a small article and photographs in the local 'Press and Journal' Newspaper on Monday 2nd September 1996. I went along to see the formation bright and early at around 7am the following day. It was very exciting as I've been following their reports this year, and certainly didn't expect to ever see a circle let alone a Pictogram!

As I arrived I could tell that it's appearance was quite old. I spoke to a local in the area who said he first noticed it from his garage window on the 24th of August, so it could have formed on that particular morning, or anytime before. As this was the first time I had seen a formation, I'm a poor judge of its authenticity, but I've seen many photographs so judging by them, and by its multiple layering and symmetry, I would say it is be genuine.

One strange anomaly was the protrusion of several stalks of Barley outside the very top of the circle, into and underneath all the other stalks sweeping around.

Several people had been in the formation already, but it was not to disturbed. I checked for unbroken stalks but found only a few, a number of them were kinked, but only right at their base. This could have been caused by other people walking around the formation, as it had been raining, so could this have caused the kink?

Well it may not have been a Mandelbrot Set, but I was very chuffed to have seen a formation for myself! I am very keen to keep track of other Crop Circles in Scotland, so if anyone hears of anymore please contact me. Tel: 01316611813
