Crop Phenomena Research, The Bungalow, Penwithen, Winterborne Monkton, Dorchester, Dorset DT2 9PS Telephone 01305 266832 8th July 1989 Survey report on Langton Herring crop circle in Dorset. Crop: Wheat Discovered on: 6th July 1989 after report from farm labourer John Hilear. Unusual happenings: John Hilear reported that his dogs woke him up at 3.30am on the morning of the 6th July and he heard a strange buzzing, crackling noise. I spotted strange lights, balls of light, over the field whilst taking photographs from a microlight. Circle Dimensions: The main circle was 240 feet across, measured to the outer ring. There were 22 small circles, grapeshot, measuring in size from just six inches in diameter to 2feet in diameter. The whole of this crop circle formation had no broken or damaged crop in it and there was no sign of human entry until John and myself entered the circle.
Effects: Both John and I felt a great deal of “static” whilst measuring the collection of circles and both of us suffered a headache whilst in there. The strange thing was that both of our headaches disappeared once we came out of the circles. I seemed to experience some sort of time gain. The circle was entered at 8.30 in the morning and I estimate that it should have taken at least two to three hours to measure and to take samples. It was all completed by 9.40am, I checked my watch a Sekonda quartz and I could not account for the anomaly. The other strange thing was when I reached my home, a 20 minute drive away I arrived there at 9.50. My watch has never let me down and has not since, it keeps perfect time. On reflection whilst measuring it did feel as if every thing was going in slow motion, not speeded up. Summary: Samples to be sent to MAFF lab in Cambridgeshire and I am awaiting for the photographs from my camera to be developed. I was informed a week later when I enquired how MAFF was getting on with my samples that they had not received them. I find this hard to believe. Courtesy of David Kingston |
