This double ringed circle appeared on the John Lewis Partnership owned farm at Longstock, Hampshire on the 13th of June, 1988. It was discovered and reported to CPR by an army helicopter flying out of the military air base of Middle Wallop.
Four weeks after discovery, on the evening of the 9th September, Andrews was leaving the formation just before dusk, when he observed numerous places where soil had been lifted by moles lifting towards the surface. All of the lifted soil formed within a narrow corridor which was aligned to the north west. The area formed an uncanny straight line.
During the following day the farmer was harvesting the field, when he came across a new formation, a magnificent Celtic Cross. It was approximately 100 yards from the original formation. When Andrews arrived after an immediate flight over the formation, he was flabbergasted to see that if you were to draw a line between the two formations, that line would fall directly on the same line created by the moles that night before.
Full details in the CPRI database and soon to be included in a new CDROM. This will be an invaluable source of data for the serious researcher. Details will be announced.
