Found in green wheat on the 6th of July, 1985 near Alresford, Hampshire. The quintuplet set was clearly visible from the nearby A31 highway at grid ref: SU 543 292.

The same night as it appeared, Mr. and Mrs Jack Collins of Winchester witnessed a large "Fun Fair Wheel" UFO hovering over Stockbridge Downs to the west. The Collins Case received extensive coverage and the retired couple appeared on many television programs describing what they saw.

Colin Andrews was at that time Head of Communications for Test Valley Borough Council and was carrying his radio with him at the local carnival when he heard police headquarters in Winchester summon two police units to Stockbridge Down in response to a 999 call from the couple. Colin arrived before the police units, but he watched police from Romsey and Andover search the area looking for signs of the UFO or its landing place.

This formation was discovered, perhaps by co-incidence the next morning and a few days later another identical formation was found south of Andover at Longstock. The two formation locations and the UFO event of that night formed a dead straight line, running NW to SE.
